Overview
Trail IQ is a local-first fitness app for walking, running, cycling, and similar outdoor workouts.
Trail IQ stores workout, route, heart-rate, HRV where available, resting heart-rate, saved route, profile, settings, and comparison data locally on your device. If you choose to connect Apple Health, Trail IQ can read and write supported workout and health data through Apple Health with your permission. Trail IQ does not upload your health data to Trail IQ servers and does not store personal health information in iCloud.
Trail IQ does not use third-party advertising, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell your data.
Data Handled On Device
Trail IQ may handle sensitive fitness and health-related information on your device, depending on which features you use.
Location And Route Data
When you record or import route-capable workouts, Trail IQ may store GPS route points, distance, pace or speed, elevation, saved-route matches, same-route comparisons, and route-aware coaching context.
Location access is used during workouts to record routes, distance, pace or speed, elevation, route-aware coaching context, and local weather conditions. Background location is used only to continue recording an active workout while the app is backgrounded or the screen is locked.
For newly recorded outdoor workouts, Trail IQ may request current conditions from Apple Weather using WeatherKit. Temperature, feels-like temperature, humidity, wind, and condition snapshots are stored locally with the workout, with Apple Weather attribution. Trail IQ does not send workout or weather data to Trail IQ servers.
Fitness And Workout Data
Trail IQ stores workout type, start and end time, duration, distance, pace or speed, elevation, calories, route assignments, comparison state, coaching context, and available weather-condition snapshots for workouts you record, import, or edit.
Bluetooth Heart-Rate Monitor Data
If you connect a compatible Bluetooth heart-rate monitor, Trail IQ may store heart-rate samples, RR interval-derived HRV where available, resting heart-rate test results, and device capability/status information.
Heart-rate-led workouts, HRV where available, resting heart-rate tests, and richer heart-rate coaching require a connected Bluetooth heart-rate monitor.
Profile Data
If you enter profile values or import them from Apple Health, Trail IQ may store values such as birth date or age, biological sex, height, weight, resting heart rate, max heart rate, and heart-rate zone preferences.
These values are used for workout metrics, calories, heart-rate zones, and coaching.
Apple Health
Apple Health integration is optional and uses HealthKit permissions controlled by iOS.
With your permission, Trail IQ can read supported workout and health data from Apple Health. Trail IQ can also save completed workouts and supported samples back to Apple Health when enabled.
You can manage Apple Health permissions at any time in the iOS Health app or iOS Settings.
Backup, Export, And Sharing
Backup, export, import, and share actions are user initiated through iOS document and share flows.
Exports may include private workout, route, heart-rate, health-test, profile, settings, and comparison data. You choose when and where exported files are shared or stored.
iCloud
Trail IQ does not provide user-facing iCloud sync for personal health information.
System-level iPhone/iCloud backups are controlled by iOS and Apple, not by Trail IQ. Manage those settings in iOS.
Managing Or Deleting Local Data
You can manage Trail IQ data from Settings > Privacy & Data inside the app.
Available controls include Export All Data, Import All Data From Backup, Delete All Workouts, Delete All Health Tests, Delete All Routes, and Reset App to Factory Defaults.
Deleting data in Trail IQ removes the local records managed by the app. Data that you previously exported, shared, saved to Apple Health, backed up through iOS, or stored outside Trail IQ must be managed separately in the destination where you placed it.
Data Collection By The Developer
Trail IQ is local-first. The developer does not receive your workout, route, heart-rate, HRV, resting heart-rate, profile, settings, Apple Health, or route-comparison data through the app.
If you contact support by email, the developer will receive the information you choose to include in that message.
Trail IQ does not require an account. Because your app data is stored locally on your device, support cannot remotely view, change, export, or delete your on-device Trail IQ data.
Permission Management
You can review or change system permissions outside Trail IQ: Location in iOS Settings > Apps > Trail IQ > Location, Bluetooth in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Bluetooth, and Apple Health in the Health app > Sharing > Apps and Services > Trail IQ.
Turning off a permission may make related features unavailable, but local workouts, history, settings, and backup tools should remain usable where they do not depend on that permission.
Tracking, Advertising, And Children
Trail IQ does not track you across apps or websites.
Trail IQ does not include third-party advertising.
Trail IQ does not sell user data.
Trail IQ is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes And Contact
This policy may be updated as Trail IQ changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
